8 أبريل هي ذكرى مذبحة بحر البقر، حيث قصف الطيران الإسرائيلي، مدرسة أطفال،أدت إلى وفاة 30 تلميذًا وتلميذة وأصيب 50 آخرون،وقعت المذبحة في مركز الحسينية بمحافظة الشرقية عام 1970.
انتقلت على الفور سيارات الإطفاء والإسعاف لنقل المصابين وجثث الضحايا، وبعدها أصدرت وزارة الداخلية المصرية بياناً تفصيلياً بالحادث وأعلنت أن عدد الوفيات 29 طفلا وقتها وبلغ عدد المصابين أكثر من 50 فيهم حالات خطيرة، وأصيب مدرس و 11 شخصاً من العاملين بالمدرسة
أثار الهجوم حالة من الغضب والاستنكار على مستوى الرأي العام العالمي، وبالرغم من أن الموقف الرسمي الدولي كان سلبيًا ولم يتحرك على النحو المطلوب، إلا أن تأثير الرأي العام تسبب في إجبار الولايات المتحدة ورئيسها نيكسون على تأجيل صفقة إمداد إسرائيل بطائرات حديثة، كما أدى الحادث إلى تخفيف الغارات الإسرائيلية على المواقع المصرية، والذي أعقبه الانتهاء من تدشين حائط الصواريخ المصري في يونيو من نفس العام والذي قام بإسقاط الكثير من الطائرات الإسرائيلية، وانتهت العمليات العسكرية بين الطرفين بعد قبول مبادرة روجرز ووقف حرب الاستنزاف.

In memory of the Bahr al-Baqar school massacre.

April 8 is the anniversary of the Bahr al-Baqar massacre, in which the Israeli warplanes bombed a children’s school, which led to the death of 30 male and female students and the injury of 50 others. The massacre took place in the Husseiniya center in the Sharkia governorate in 1970.
Immediately, firefighting vehicles and ambulances moved to transport the injured and the bodies of the victims, after which the Egyptian Ministry of Interior issued a detailed statement of the accident and announced that the number of deaths was 29 children at the time, and the number of injured reached more than 50, including serious cases, and a teacher and 11 school workers were injured.
The attack sparked a state of anger and condemnation at the level of world public opinion, and although the international official position was negative and did not move as required, the influence of public opinion forced the United States and its President Nixon to postpone the deal to supply Israel with modern aircraft, and the incident led to Reducing the Israeli raids on Egyptian sites, which was followed by the completion of the inauguration of the Egyptian missile wall in June of the same year, which shot down many Israeli planes, and the military operations between the two parties ended after accepting Rogers’ initiative and stopping the war of attrition.
