في إطار مساعي مكتب الأمم المتحدة للحد من مخاطر الكوارث UNDRR لتداول القضايا حول التقدم المُحرز وكذلك التحديات والثغرات في تنفيذ إطار للحد من مخاطر الكوارث بالمنطقة العربية،
شارك اللواء محمد الشريف محافظ الإسكندرية اجتماع الشراكة العربية التاسع للحد من مخاطر الكوارث،
الذي ينظمه مكتب الأمم المتحدة الإقليمي UNDRR خلال الفترة من (21- 23) نوفمبر على أرض الإسكندرية، بحضور
اللواء محمد حجازي مساعد الأمين العام لرئاسة مجلس الوزراء لشئون الأزمات، والسيد فادي جنان نائب رئيس المكتب الإقليمي للدول العربية التابع لمكتب الأمم المتحدة للحد من مخاطر الكوارث،
وبمشاركة ممثلين عن 22 دولة ما بين حكومات ومنظمات عربية وإقليمية ودولية وأصحاب المصالح في مجال الحد من مخاطر الكوارث. وخلال كلمته،
رحب محافظ الإسكندرية بالوفود المشاركة على أرض عروس البحر المتوسط أقدم سكندريات العالم،
مؤكدًا أن المحافظة تتبنى عددًا من البرامج والسياسات الجادة والفعالة لمواجهة مخاطر الكوارث بما يعزز القدرة على التكيف مع تغيرات المناخ ومجابهة الكوارث الطبيعية. وخاصة أن الإسكندرية تتعرض كمدينة ساحلية للعديد من التحديات لعل أهمها التغيرات المناخية والتي استشعرنا جميعًا تأثيرها بداية من عام ٢٠١٥
حيث تعرضت لمضاعفة كميات الأمطار التي لم تستوعبها شبكات الصرف مما أثر بشكل سلبي على كافة أوجه الحياة بالمحافظة. لذا يحظى اجتماع اليوم بالأولوية القصوى في الإسكندرية،
حيث نفذنا العديد من المشروعات على أرض الواقع للتصدي لتلك الأزمات، ولعل أهمها “مشروع الإستراتيجية المتكاملة لإدارة مياه الأمطار،
فنحن بصدد الانتهاء منه للاستفادة من كل قطرة مياه وتحويلها لمشروع الدلتا الجديد، فضلًا عن مشاركتنا في كاف الفعاليات الخاصة بCOP 27 الذي انعقد بمدينة شرم الشيخ،
حيث عملنا جاهدين لتنفيذ توصيات المؤتمر، وعقد شراكات مع العديد من دول العالم لتبادل الخبرات وخاصة فيما يتعلق باستخدام التقنيات المبتكرة لأجهزة الإنذار المبكر للكوارث.
وفي الختام، تمنى المحافظ نجاح فعاليات هذه اللقاءات المهمة في إطار تبادل الرؤى بين الوفود المشاركة، متمنيًا خروج الاجتماع بنتائج تُمهد الطريق لاتخاذ إجراءات ملموسة في هذا الشأن،
كما دعا جميع الوفود للاستمتاع بطبيعة الإسكندرية الساحرة وزيارة الأماكن السياحية العريقة بالإسكندرية

Disaster risk reduction,,, at the ninth Arab Partnership Meeting Written and translated by: Dr. Sherine Hashem Within the framework of the efforts of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) to discuss the progress achieved as well as the challenges and gaps in implementing a framework for disaster risk reduction in the Arab region, Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, participated in the ninth Arab Partnership for Disaster Risk Reduction meeting, which is organized by the United Nations Regional Office. UNDRR during the period from (21-23) November on the territory of Alexandria, in the presence of Major General Mohamed Hegazy, Assistant Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers for Crisis Affairs, and Mr. Fadi Janan, Deputy Head of the Regional Office for Arab States of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, and with the participation of representatives of 22 countries between governments, Arab, regional and international organizations and stakeholders in the field of disaster risk reduction. During his speech, the Governor of Alexandria welcomed the participating delegations to the land of the Bride of the Mediterranean, the oldest Alexandria in the world, stressing that the governorate is adopting a number of serious and effective programs and policies to confront disaster risks in a way that enhances the ability to adapt to climate change and confront natural disasters. Especially since Alexandria, as a coastal city, is exposed to many challenges, perhaps the most important of which is climate change, the impact of which we all felt beginning in 2015, when it was exposed to a doubling of the amounts of rain that could not be absorbed by the drainage networks, which negatively affected all aspects of life in the governorate. Therefore, today’s meeting has the highest priority in Alexandria, as we have implemented many projects on the ground to address these crises, perhaps the most important of which is the “Integrated Strategy for Rainwater Management Project,” as we are in the process of completing it to benefit from every drop of water and transfer it to the new Delta project, in addition to our participation in all Events for COP 27, which was held in Sharm El Sheikh, where we worked hard to implement the conference’s recommendations, and to establish partnerships with many countries of the world to exchange experiences, especially with regard to the use of innovative technologies for early warning devices for disasters. In conclusion, the Governor wished the success of the activities of these important meetings within the framework of exchanging visions between the participating delegations, hoping that the meeting would produce positive results that would pave the way for taking concrete measures in this regard. He also called on all delegations to enjoy the charming nature of Alexandria and visit the ancient tourist sites in Alexandria.
